Project Site: Xinjiang Korla Tahe Oilfield Drilling Crew
Machine Set: 3500 kW Main Power Gas Generator Set
Project Background: the drilling crew uses electric-driven drilling rigs and 4 conventional diesel generator sets (rated power of each set is 1,200 kW) are equipped to supply main power (600 V, 50 Hz) for these drilling rigs. Now in response to the national policy of energy saving and emission reduction as well as in order to reduce drilling costs, the drilling crew intends to replace conventional diesel generator sets with gas power to supply main power for the crew.
Project Overview: the natural gas generator set of this project is used as main power generator for the 70D electric-driven drilling system. 3 + 1 sets of 600 V (600 V / 50 Hz) gas generators are applied to renovate the main power supply of the current diesel generator sets. By investigating into the drilling crew’s actual usage of drilling system, it’s confirmed that in the practical application of the system, its maximum load is 3200 kW (frequency of usage < 20%) and its commonly used load is less than 2400 kW (frequency of usage ≥ 95%).
The gas generator set adopts the 3 + 1 pattern, that is, 3 sets of 1000 kW / 600 V gas gen-sets and 1 set of 500 kW / 600 V gas gen-set work in parallel to supply power for the drilling crew.
Project Principle: the project works as follows: low-pressure natural gas (≥ 0.45MPa) flows into the gas generator set through the buffer tank. When the gas gen-set operates normally, 4 sets of gas gen-sets realize parallel operation through the centralized parallel parts in the switch cabinet, then 3 sets of power split switches and 3 sets of diesel gen-sets in the switch cabinet will interlock before delivering 600 V / 50 Hz power to the drilling crew.
Advantages of the Scheme:
1. Gas generator sets realize parallel operation through the parallel output cabinet and phase angle of each set is consistent after parallel operation;
2. Interlocks the gas gen-set and diesel gen-set;
3. Quick changeover of power between the gas gen-set and diesel gen-set is realized;
4. No alteration to the VFD room of the drilling crew is necessary.
Project Benefits Analysis: the drilling crew consumes about 300 to 350 tons of diesel from the beginning to the completion of drilling a well, but by using AMICO 3500 kW gas generator set, the crew only consumes about 410,000 to 450,000 Nm3 gas.
Diesel is 6,300 yuan/ton, and the spot price of natural gas in Xinjiang is 2.1 yuan/Nm3. After calculation, it is estimated that for each well, the drilling crew can save fuel costs of 1.1 million yuan.
